First, I'd just like to say how impressed I was by the work of our students during the auditions for The Arabian Nights. Shows are always difficult to cast around here because of the wealth of talent, but this show proved to be the hardest yet for me. There were simply too many deserving people to cast them all. Whether your name appears on the cast list or not, please know that I was overwhelmed by your talent and am honored to be working with you all. These auditions were another in a long list of reminders that CCCEPA is a special place.
Here's your weekly outline of what to expect in class this week:
DRAMA 1
Now that we are up and running with our film and TV work, we are establishing a routine that we will follow in the coming weeks. On Monday we'll review the footage from our first scene and provide critique in class. We will then start shooting our next scene, and we will follow that pattern of work - shooting scenes and reviewing footage - for the entire week. Please make sure that you are arriving to class every day with your scenes memorized and blocked, and with two hard copies of your script.
DRAMA 2
On Monday (and potentially Tuesday, depending on each class' progress) you will be allowed time to rehearse the full True West scene in class. We will then move on to final performances of the full scene for the remainder of the week. The only exception to this schedule will be on Wednesday in 4th block, when those students will have a master class with a guest instructor (that work will be physical in nature, so you may want to bring/wear comfortable dress out clothes that day).
DRAMA 4
On Monday we will finish our first round of college research presentations. Tuesday-Thursday we'll review your potential monologue choices in class, so please make sure you have numerous options ready to present by Tuesday. On Friday you'll be allowed time to rehearse approved monologues in advance of first performances the following week.
Have a great week, everyone! Enjoy the eclipse!
