I hope you've all had a wonderful break!
It feels redundant to say we have a busy week coming up in the drama department, but...here we are. It's going to be a busy week. For one thing, we have auditions for our next play after school this Monday, 2/26. That also means that we'll be holding callbacks in class on Tuesday and potentially Wednesday in some periods. I do believe that holding callbacks in class is a valuable experience for all involved - whether you're taking part in the readings or not - but since we very recently completed callbacks for Murder on the Nile, I intend to move very quickly through this process so we can get back to our regularly scheduled programming.
To those of you auditioning: I'm very excited to see your work and to have the opportunity to work on this play. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions about the auditions.
Here's your weekly outline of what to expect in class:
INTRO
Because of the difference in class sizes between the three sections of Intro, each period is in a slightly different place with regard to scene work. 1st block will complete coaching sessions on Monday and will be ready for final performances. 2nd and 4th blocks will continue coaching sessions on Monday as well, however there will still be several scenes remaining to be coached after callbacks are completed. The flow in each class will look like this: once all scenes have been coached, all students will receive one class period to rehearse and incorporate notes and direction received to this point, and then we'll see final performances in class. For first block, that likely means final performances late this week. For 2nd and 4th blocks, final performances will more likely occur the following week. In each class - once final scene performances have been completed - we'll be moving on to a unit devoted to monologue work.
DRAMA 3
I know you're all anxious to present the mock audition material you received prior to the break, however with so much time having been devoted to callbacks and master classes lately I'd like to put the mock auditions on hold until next week so that we can resume our focus on our ongoing film/TV scenes. I can all but assure you that I will need both Tuesday and Wednesday to work through callbacks in 3rd block, and on Thursday you'll have your weekly voice master class (please make sure you have completed the interview exercise by then). This means that Monday and Friday will be devoted to shooting scenes and reviewing footage. I'd like to pick up our two in-progress scenes to start, however this is a gentle reminder that at this point, ALL scenes should be ready to tape at a moment's notice, and your group should be arriving to class every day with two hard copies of your script.
Have a great, busy week, everybody!
