This promises to be a busy week in the drama department! Callbacks for our spring production of 1984 will be held in all drama classes this Wednesday and Thursday. If you've been called back, I will be providing you with material to read in your drama class one or both of those days. If you have been called back and are not currently enrolled in drama, I will make arrangements with your other PA teacher(s) for you to come to drama and read.
Please note that this Tuesday, 11/5 is election day and there will be no classes that day. I hope that those of you who are old enough will vote!
Here's your weekly outline of what to expect in class:
DRAMA 1
We'll hold individual scene coaching sessions on Monday (after seeing any remaining first performances of scenes) and will resume those sessions on Friday once callbacks have been completed.
DRAMA 2
We'll review first drafts of your student-written monologues on Monday and will resume listening to drafts on Friday once callbacks have been completed. After we have reviewed all first drafts in class, you'll have time to work on revisions and to start rehearsing the monologue that has been written for you.
DRAMA 4
As we discussed in class, I'm pushing back first performances of your stretch material scenes until next week (the week of 11/11) in order to allow more preparation time. That means you'll have time to rehearse in class on Monday. Wednesday and Thursday will be busy days of callbacks due to the high volume of students called back in 3rd period, so those readings could spill over into next week as well. On Friday, we'll be joined by guests from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for an accent/dialect workshop! I'm excited for you! Just keep in mind that with such a large gap between in-class rehearsal on Monday and first performances of your scenes the following week, the onus will be on you to continue studying your lines and blocking in the interim.
Have a great week, everybody!
