As we discussed in class last week, drama juries will be held in class during the week of 3/16 for all freshmen, sophomores and juniors (seniors are exempt from drama juries). In Intro, you've been allowed time to search for monologues in class, and my hope is that you have been able to find something you're happy performing. Our current monologue unit is also strategically placed at this point in the semester to equip you with useful information about monologue performances in advance of your juries. For Drama 3 - which is a more advanced class - you will be expected to find and prepare your jury outside of class. For all classes: though juries are an exercise in independently preparing an audition without the help of your instructors, I encourage you to reach out to our seniors if you are struggling with the process.
Here is your weekly outline of what to expect in class:
INTRO
We will continue with first performances of monologues to start the week. Once all first performances have been completed (likely by Wednesday or Thursday), we'll move on to individual coaching sessions.
DRAMA 3
On Monday we will tape the mock commercial auditions you received in class last week. On Tuesday we'll review the footage in class and "cast" the roles in the same fashion we did your film/TV auditions. Wednesday-Friday we'll resume the process of taping your film/TV scenes and reviewing the footage in class. With only a few scenes left to tape, please make sure you're ready to perform your scene at a moment's notice if you haven't already done so!
Have a great week, everybody!
