This is a big week! For one thing, it's the last week of classes before spring break! For another, our production of The Amen Corner runs this weekend! Performances are Friday, 3/29 (7:30), Saturday, 3/30 (two shows: 3:00 and 7:30) and Sunday, 3/31 (3:00). Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at cccepa.com. If you're coming to see the show, be sure to get there early so you can see our choir perform during the pre-show!
As you all know, this week we'll be holding juries in all drama classes for freshmen, sophomores and juniors. If reading that sentence evokes anxiety in you, just remember: while juries are considered a major part of the class placement process for next year, nothing can outweigh the work that you put in day-in and day-out. Mr. Adams and I would be foolish to ignore your whole body of work and base decisions on a single five minute audition. You've had plenty of time to prepare, so just come in and do your best and everything will be fine!
Here's your weekly outline of what to expect in class:
INTRO
As noted above, juries will be occurring in all classes this week. In first block, we should be finished by mid-week, at which point we'll resume voice and movement work (please be sure to bring/wear comfortable dress out clothes once juries have been completed). In 2nd block, I suspect juries will take all week due to the size of the class, however if we do finish early we'll resume work on monologue coaching sessions. The same applies to 4th block, which should absolutely have time to resume monologue work this week upon the completion juries.
DRAMA 3
With so few students needing to jury during this period, I suspect we'll complete the process by the end of class on Tuesday, at which point we'll resume the process of taping your film/TV scenes in class. If you are in one of the few scenes that still need to be taped in class, please make sure you are arriving every day with your scenes memorized and blocked, and please also make sure that your group has two hard copies of your script. As always, students who have already taped will serve on the camera crew for these scenes.
Have a great week, everybody, and a wonderful spring break!
