This week, our first musical of the year - 9 to 5 - will perform at the Jennie T. Anderson Theater 1/30-2/2. As of the writing of this post, the Saturday performance is sold out, and few tickets remain for Thursday, Friday and Sunday. You may purchase tickets at cccepa.com, or by calling the Anderson Theater box office at (770) 528-8490. Numerous roles in this production are double cast, so you may wish to speak to a cast or crew member to find out when specific students perform.
With sickness impacting a lot of our students and staff recently, I encourage you all to take good care of yourselves! Wash your hands, take your vitamins and get as much rest as you can!
Here's your weekly outline of what to expect in class:
INTRO
We'll finish any remaining first performances of scenes on Monday, and then the bulk of this week (through Thursday) will be devoted to individual scene coaching sessions. We will pause this work on Friday to discuss some basics regarding monologue selection. As our next unit will focus on monologues - leading up to juries in March - I'd like to allow you some time to start searching for material, and I'll provide you with some useful guidelines on Friday. Remember: even after you've completed your first performance and coaching session for your scene, keep working diligently to apply the notes and direction you've received to your upcoming final performance.
DRAMA 3
For the majority of this week, we'll be continuing the process of taping your film/TV scenes in class and reviewing the footage, and you'll be serving on the camera crew for other students' scenes. As always: if you have not yet taped your scene in class, please make sure that you are arriving to class every day with your scenes memorized and blocked, and please also have two hard copies of your script. On Friday you'll receive an introduction to auditioning for film and television, and I'll provide you with your first round of mock audition material.
Have a great week, everybody! I wish many broken legs to the cast and crew of 9 to 5!
