Thank you for a great first week of classes! I think we're off to a great start, and we've laid the foundation necessary to start really digging into our work in the coming weeks.
As a reminder, next weekend will be a three-day weekend (school will be closed on Monday, 1/20 for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day). As we will discuss in class this week, I hope you will all take at least a moment to reflect on the reasons we observe that day, and the impact Dr. King had on the world we live in today.
Here's your weekly outline of what to expect in class:
INTRO
On Monday and Tuesday you will continue rehearsing your scene with your partner(s). Wednesday-Friday we'll be seeing first performances of those scenes. Not every student will perform every day. Instead, we'll see scenes at a rate of three or four per class period, and I'll allow time for instructor/peer feedback on each performance. It will be helpful if you have a journal or notebook in which you can take down the notes and direction you receive, but regular old pen and paper will also do just fine. Also, don't forget that your written script analysis assignment is due on Monday! (The assignment won't be due until Tuesday for 1st Block Intro since that class is running slightly behind due to the homeroom/testing schedule during the first week of classes).
DRAMA 3
This entire week will be devoted to the process of taping film/TV scenes. The general blueprint for this work will include taping a scene, reviewing the footage in class and then moving on to the next scene. When you're not acting in a scene, you'll be serving on the camera crew in a variety of positions for other students' scenes. Please make sure that you are arriving to class every day with your scenes memorized and blocked, and that you have two hard copies of your script. Also, don't forget that your written script analysis assignment is due on Monday!
Have a great week, everybody!
