Only one week of classes left until Thanksgiving break!
On Wednesday of this week, I will spend the day taping the video auditions for all CCCEPA students advancing to the Governor's Honors Program stage level auditions in drama, voice and dance (there are 24 students in total - congratulations to you all!). Other PA teachers will be covering my classes, but you will all have something to rehearse at that point, so it will be far from a lost day. Here's a breakdown of what we'll be doing this week in all classes:
DRAMA 1
On Monday, we will resume shooting the scene currently in-progress and should also have time to review the footage. We'll begin shooting another scene on Tuesday and should be able to tape the entire scene. As always, if you have not yet shot your scene, please have your lines memorized, ready to perform. On Wednesday, while I am taping GHP auditions, I will provide you with copies of the commercials I told you we'd be taping, and you can spend the day rehearsing and memorizing your lines. On Thursday we'll review the footage from Tuesday's scene and then start on the next scene, which will carry over to Friday.
DRAMA 2
The schedule for 2nd and 4th block are essentially the same this week. On Monday you'll be allowed time to rehearse your children's theater scenes with your groups. On Tuesday we'll start looking at scenes in class, and students interested in directing will be allowed to lead portions of our in-class rehearsals. Our in-class rehearsals will continue for the remainder of the week, with the exception being Wednesday. While I am taping GHP auditions on Wednesday, 2nd block will be having a voice class with Ms. Cook, and 4th block will have supervised rehearsal time for all groups.
DRAMA 4
On Monday, our final three pairs will complete the personalization exercise. On Tuesday, we'll move right into rehearsing your fully-staged theater scenes. If you choose not to use the scene I selected for you during the personalization work, you may also use this time on Tuesday to select your scene from one of the plays available in the white box, or from a play you already own. On Wednesday, while I am taping GHP auditions, you will have another day of supervised rehearsal time, and I will allow for rehearsals to continue on Thursday and Friday. If any of you feel ready to give a first, off-book performance on Friday I will certainly allow it, but you will all be expected to perform your blocked and memorized scenes when we return from Thanksgiving break (the week of 12/1). Your written script analysis assignment will be due that Monday as well. If time permits and any of you feel you have had enough in-class rehearsal time on your scenes, we may also devote some time later in the week to rehearsing Showcase pieces.
With that in mind, don't forget that Showcase performances are this week, Friday 11/21 and Saturday, 11/22 at 7:30!
As always, feel free to schedule coaching sessions and pre-screen audition tapings with me before or after school. We're deep into the pre-screen season and though most of the acting pre-screens have been taped at this point, there are still more to come. Please don't wait until the last minute! Schedule your time with me now! If you are interested in additional coaching, please let me know if you would like me to put you in touch with Mr. Pat Hurley.
Let's have a great week and then enjoy some time off with full bellies!
