As we discussed on Monday, 1st and 2nd Block Intro will not meet on Zoom today. Instead, I have an assignment for you that will allow you to put our recent voice work into practice, as well as provide an opportunity to raise your grade in the class. Here are the steps I'd like you to take today:
1. Using either your class or jury monologue from this semester, perform your monologue out loud (if you've forgotten the lines, you may simply read the text - but do so with the same intention and vocal commitment you would use if performing in class).
2. Thoroughly complete the vocal warm-up we've been doing in class the last two weeks. I've sent a written copy of the warm-up via Remind for reference.
3. Now that you are warmed up - and attempting to utilize the breath support methods we've discussed in class - perform your monologue again.
4. In a brief written response (one or two paragraphs), discuss the changes you experienced from the first performance to the second. Take note of changes in diction, breath support, vocal variety, etc. This does not need to be a formal essay, simply a quick self-analysis of your work vocally, and the impact of thoroughly warming up. Please email your responses to [email protected] by the end of the school day. YOU DO NOT NEED TO SUBMIT A VIDEO OF YOUR PERFORMANCES.
I will be available throughout the school day if you have any questions, and will also be on Zoom for my 5th Period virtual office hour - 3:00-4:00 (login info shared via Remind).
Have a great day!
