Below are the planned activities for 3rd and 4th Blocks today:
DRAMA 3:
As we discussed on Tuesday, today we'll take a break from monologue review to discuss the college research we'll be conducting in the fall (and that I'm sure you've already begun on your own). I'll share with you the research document we will use in class and will ask for your input in terms of what needs to be added, removed or changed. As always, seniors in the class are more than welcome to attend and provide your input - especially since you've recently gone through this process. For the juniors, this is a chance to get a valuable head start on this work. We'll meet on Zoom, 10:00-11:00 (login info shared via Remind).
4th BLOCK INTRO:
As we discussed on Tuesday, 4th Block Intro will not meet on Zoom today. Instead, I have an assignment for you that will allow you to put our recent voice work into practice, as well as provide an opportunity to raise your grade in the class. Here are the steps I'd like you to take today:
1. Using either your class or jury monologue from this semester, perform your monologue out loud (if you've forgotten the lines, you may simply read the text - but do so with the same intention and vocal commitment you would use if performing in class).
2. Thoroughly complete the vocal warm-up we've been doing in class the last two weeks. I've sent a written copy of the warm-up via Remind for reference.
3. Now that you are warmed up - and attempting to utilize the breath support methods we've discussed in class - perform your monologue again.
4. In a brief written response (one or two paragraphs), discuss the changes you experienced from the first performance to the second. Take note of changes in diction, breath support, vocal variety, etc. This does not need to be a formal essay, simply a quick self-analysis of your work vocally, and the impact of thoroughly warming up. Please email your responses to [email protected] by the end of the school day. YOU DO NOT NEED TO SUBMIT A VIDEO OF YOUR PERFORMANCES.
During our 5th Period time slot today (3:00-4:00), we'll be joined by a special guest. Joe Sykes is a close personal friend who has worked extensively as an actor in Atlanta for more than 15 years - on stage, as well as in film and television. He'll be sharing from his experiences and answering questions about the Atlanta acting industry. All drama students - majors and minors - are welcome to attend. I've shared the login info via Remind.
Have a great day!
