Here are the details of today's class:
DRAMA 3:
In the coming weeks, I'd like to begin the process of reviewing potential monologue selections for use in Drama 4 and for college auditions next school year. While this work is largely for the juniors in the class, any and all seniors are cordially invited to participate in the process (between your training and your own experiences with college auditions, you input could prove very helpful). We'll start with a Zoom session today (10:00-11:00, login information shared via Remind) to review selection criteria and discuss the plan, and then we'll start reviewing monologue selections next Thursday. Remember: this process works best when we have a large group to provide input, and it will also save us time in the fall. I strongly encourage you to participate in this work, ESPECIALLY if you're planning to audition for acting or musical theater programs next year.
4th BLOCK INTRO:
Today, 4th Block Intro should complete taping the cold reading exercise we've been working on for the past week. This means we will not be holding a class-wide Zoom session today, but I will be available throughout the school day if you have any questions, and also during my 5th Period virtual office hour (3:00-4:00, login information shared via Remind). I'd like your videos by 4:15 today, however I will completely understand if this poses a problem with your reader's schedule and you need to submit later. I will respond to each of you with individual feedback ASAP but in keeping with district policy, will only enter a grade for you if it serves to positively impact your grade in the class. Please follow these instructions while taping:
-You will need a reader off camera (family bonding time?) to read the other character's lines in the scene. If that's not an option, you may also have someone read the other lines via Zoom or FaceTime.
-You should be the only person on camera.
-Make sure your reader reads more quietly than you since he/she will be closer to the microphone than you.
-You may use your cell phone, but please record landscape (sideways) rather than portrait (upright).
-Please try to avoid taping outdoors unless you must.
-Make sure I can hear you!
-If possible, please frame in such a way that I can see the script in your hand. Remember: this is a cold reading exercise, so I'd like to be able to observe how you deal with the pages. If you are able to print the sides at home please do so, but don't worry if that's not an option for you.
-Please email your finished video to [email protected].
-If your video is too large to email, I recommend using wetransfer.com. You can email up to two GB and it's free!
Have a great day!
