It's the last week before fall break! I'm looking forward to a productive week of school to make our time off even more enjoyable!
Our first drama department production of the year - Romeo & Juliet - will perform this week Friday-Sunday (9/21-9/23) with two performances on Saturday. Many of the roles are double cast, so you'll want to check with friends/Mr. Adams to confirm which cast members will be performing when. I'll be seeing both casts and hope you will, too! Tickets are available online a cccepa.com. Break a leg, everybody!
As you know, this Tuesday and Wednesday I will be assisting seniors who are auditioning for collegiate acting and musical theater programs with their pre-screen audition tapes. Fear not! These days have been part of the plan all along (they are noted on the PA calendar sent out by Mr. Timmerman over the summer) so there is work in place for you to do without me, meaning our classes won't skip a beat.
Here's your weekly outline of what to expect in class:
DRAMA 1 and DRAMA 3
On Monday we'll complete any work on in-progress film/TV scenes, and then we'll go over commercial auditioning. I'll provide you with mock audition material which you will rehearse in class on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday we'll tape your auditions in class and then on Friday we'll review the footage and "cast" the roles via class vote (as we did with your mock film/TV auditions).
DRAMA 2
We'll start the week by wrapping up first performances of your children's theater pieces. You will then be allowed rehearsal time on Tuesday and Wednesday to incorporate the notes and direction you received from your first performances. I'd like to begin final performances later in the week, but stay tuned...I don't want to rush the process and am prepared to continue this work the week after we get back from fall break, if necessary.
DRAMA 4
This week will largely be devoted to completing round 3 of your college research presentations, which we will see on Monday, Thursday and Friday. On Tuesday you'll have time to rehearse the monologues you have not yet performed in class (those performances will be coming up very quickly after our break), and on Wednesday you'll join with Mr. Adams' class for monologue coaching sessions.
Have a great week, everybody! Hope you have a fun, safe and relaxing break!
