This week will offer a couple of special events. First, the PTSA open house will be held this Tuesday evening. Mr. Adams and I will both be on hand and excited to meet with parents. Also - with auditions for Showcase on the horizon - the entire PA program will meet together for 5th period on Thursday to discuss the audition process, and also for some performances as part of "PA On Display" (performance details to follow). If you wish to go ahead and apply to audition a performance or performances for Showcase, you can do so using the online application form located at: https://goo.gl/forms/aGmfXVLvRRl0vJwj2
Here's your weekly glance at what to expect in class this week:
DRAMA 1:
On Monday we'll tape your mock commercial auditions, after a little time at the start of class to complete your preparation. Remember that you are expected to perform your commercial text off-book. We'll review the footage from those mock auditions on Tuesday and will "cast" the roles based on class vote. We will then resume our process of shooting and reviewing film/TV scenes for the remainder of the week. As a reminder: all students whose scenes have not yet been taped should be arriving to class with lines memorized, scenes blocked and two hard copies of the script.
DRAMA 2:
There are just a couple of remaining final performances of the True West scene in both 2nd and 4th blocks, and we will see those performances on Monday. We will then shift gears entirely to begin our unit on children's theater. We'll start with some storytelling exercises and as we discussed in class, you are invited to bring in a copy of your favorite children's book. On Friday we will split into groups and begin the process of composing and rehearsing your children's theater pieces.
DRAMA 4:
We have just a few students remaining who need to present their first round of college research, so we'll see those presentations on Monday. You will also receive instructions that day regarding how to post your results to our class blog, and your first research document will be due on the blog by the start of class on Friday. We will then turn our attention back to monologue selections for the remainder of the week, which will provide us with enough time to hear potential selections from every student in class, so please make sure you have multiple monologue options to read. Also, as we discussed in class, I have asked a member of our guidance team to visit with us at his convenience to answer questions regarding the college application process. Pending his availability I expect him to join us one day this week or next, but due to the schedule demands placed on the guidance department I am not yet sure which day this session will occur. Please make sure that you are preparing any questions you may have about the application process (not limited to auditioning for performing arts programs).
Have a great week, everyone!
