Here are the details of today's classes:
DRAMA 3
Today I have a very special treat for you all. We will be joined on Zoom (10:00-11:00, meeting ID and password sent out via Remind) by special guests - Melanie Renfroe (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1309521/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1) and James Renfroe (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1301929/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1). Both based in Los Angeles (and joining us early in the morning on west coast time), Melanie is an incredible casting director who has worked on a long list of fantastic and noteworthy film and television projects. James is an editor with an equally-impressive list of credits, and both have established themselves as accomplished directors/filmmakers. They'll be answering your questions and providing terrific industry insight. Whether or not you've chosen to continue with distance learning assignments, I strongly encourage you to attend.
4th BLOCK INTRO:
Today's class period is designated as time for you to rehearse the cold reading material I sent you last week via Remind (if you did not receive the audition sides, please email me). That means we will not be having a group Zoom session during our meeting time, but I will be available throughout the school day if you have any questions. For 4th Block, your tapes will be due at the end of the day on Thursday. Please follow the instructions below:
-You will need a reader off camera (family bonding time?) to read the other character's lines in the scene. If that's not an option, you may also have someone read the other lines via Zoom or FaceTime.
-You should be the only person on camera.
-Make sure your reader reads more quietly than you since he/she will be closer to the microphone than you.
-You may use your cell phone, but please record landscape (sideways) rather than portrait (upright).
-Please try to avoid taping outdoors unless you must.
-Make sure I can hear you!
-If possible, please frame in such a way that I can see the script in your hand. Remember: this is a cold reading exercise, so I'd like to be able to observe how you deal with the pages. If you are able to print the sides at home please do so, but don't worry if that's not an option for you.
-Please email your finished video to [email protected].
-If your video is too large to email, I recommend using wetransfer.com. You can email up to two GB and it's free!
During 5th Period (3:00-4:00) I will be available for a "virtual office hour" on Zoom. I've provided all classes with the meeting information via Remind.
9th, 10th and 11th graders: don't forget to complete elective registration on the school website ASAP!
Have a great day!
