I'd like to start by bringing your attention to two important events happening this week. First, Wednesday will be an early release day, meaning that all classes will be shortened and students will be released from school at 11:30am. Please plan accordingly in terms of transportation. Also, this Thursday night there will be a PTSA open house. Mr. Adams and I will be on hand to greet parents and discuss what we're working on in classes this semester. I hope to see you all there.
Here's your weekly outline of what to expect in class:
DRAMA 1
On Monday we'll shoot another film/TV scene and review the footage in class. On Tuesday we'll tape your mock auditions - utilizing the texts I provided on Friday - and then we'll review that footage in class during our shortened class on Wednesday and "cast" the roles. On Thursday and Friday we'll resume shooting scenes and reviewing footage. As always, if you have not yet taped your scene in class please make sure you are arriving every day with your lines memorized, scenes blocked and two hard copies of your script.
DRAMA 2
At the beginning of the week we'll conclude final performances of the True West scene, and then we'll move on to our unit on children's theater. You've all been asked to bring your favorite children's book with you to class, and students will be presenting those books throughout the remainder of the week. The one exception to this schedule will be on Tuesday in 2nd block, when you will have a master class with a guest instructor (those students should bring/wear comfortable dress out clothes that day).
DRAMA 4
On Monday we'll spend one more day reviewing monologue selections as a group. You will then have Tuesday and our shortened class on Wednesday to rehearse your approved monologue choices in preparation for our first round of performances on Thursday. I suspect those performances will spill over into Friday, and then we will give detailed notes on those performances and review any potential new selections.
Have a great week, everybody!
