I hope you've all had a fantastic summer! I, for one, am feeling rested and ready to get back down to business! I have exciting things planned for you all and I'm looking forward to all we'll accomplish this year.
In case you've forgotten, every drama student will perform a monologue near the very beginning of the semester. This does not have to be a new piece - you may use your jury monologue from last year, a previous class monologue, etc. The performances will begin on Wednesday in all periods and my classes will be going first (followed by Mr. Adams' classes) so all of my students should be prepared to perform on Wednesday. Wednesday-Friday will be devoted to these performances in all periods. Here's what to expect on the first two days of classes before those performances begin:
DRAMA 1
We will be focused on film and TV work in the early going, so for the first couple of days we will discuss on-camera terminology and personnel, and then you will begin searching for scenes!
DRAMA 2
We're going to begin this semester with work on a scene exercise where you work with multiple partners on the same text. We'll begin work on that scene right away and you'll have time to begin rehearsing on Tuesday
DRAMA 4
As you all know, the early portion of this semester will be devoted to college research and monologue selection. We'll start with college research, and by Tuesday we will have generated our list of schools and you'll be able to start researching.
Hope you all have a great first week! I can't wait to see you all!
