The end of this week marks the mid-point of the semester! We've made a lot of progress and I'm excited about what we can accomplish before the end of the school year.
This Friday we will be joined by a very special guest. My former graduate school colleague Justin Lujan - who is now an acting professor at University of the Arts in Philadelphia - will be leading master classes in improvisation in all periods and answering questions about UArts and the college audition process in general. We'll be combining with Mr. Adams' classes so that all of our drama students will have the opportunity to work with Mr. Lujan. We're in for a treat! Here's a look at what we'll be doing in classes leading up to Friday:
INTRO:
Monday-Thursday we will continue our voice work with text. If you have not yet performed in class, please make sure that you have your lines well-memorized by Monday. You may use the scenes you performed earlier this semester or use a monologue if you and your original scene partner(s) have decided to do so. As you probably noticed during the first two days of this work, it is less essential to wear dress out clothes for these exercises, but please be advised that we will be turning our attention to movement exercises the following week, for which you will absolutely need to bring/wear comfortable dress out clothes each day.
DRAMA 3:
With our mock commercial auditions now completed, we'll turn our attention back to shooting scenes. We should have time to shoot and review three scenes this week, with scenes being taped on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. As always, if you have not yet performed your scene in class please make sure that you are arriving to class with your scenes blocked, lines memorized and two hard copies of your script. You will have voice class with Ms. Cook on Wednesday, so please bring/wear comfortable dress out clothes that day.
Break a leg to the cast of our spring drama department production of You Can't Take It With You! I'll be sitting in on a dress rehearsal this week and can't wait to see the performance. I know you'll all do a great job! For everyone not working on the show, I hope you'll be able to attend. Performances are in the black box this Friday and Saturday (3/11 and 3/12) at 7:30 with matinees Saturday and Sunday (3/12 and 3/13) at 3:00. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at cccepa.com.
Have a great week!
