With callbacks for the spring drama department production of Julius Caesar now completed, you'll see we are now turning our attention squarely back to our normal primary activities in each class:
DRAMA 1
We will now move fully back into monologue performances with an emphasis on voice work, utilizing the partner exercises you've seen so far and potentially others. Each day we will begin the class with a vocal warm-up which will then be followed by monologue performances. We may be able to complete these performances this week, depending on how much time is required with each student. As I've been telling you both here and in class: if you have not yet performed your monologue in class, please be memorized and prepared to do so this week.
DRAMA 2
With most of the monologues now completely written, we will spend this week rehearsing. I will allow some time for you to work with a partner on Tuesday, but then we will move on to individual coaching sessions with me in class, while also receiving the writer's input and input from the class as a whole. The only exception to this schedule will be in 2nd block, which as always will have voice class with Ms. Cook on Wednesday (please bring/wear comfortable dress out clothes that day).
DRAMA 3
Though we have lost a day with school being cancelled on Monday, this will still be the week where you are allowed the bulk of your in-class time for shooting and editing your video projects for the PBL we are doing with Mr. Sager's class. We will meet in your groups with Mr. Sager's class on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, so please be prepared to use that time wisely and bring any necessary materials with you on those days. On Wednesday, as always, you will have voice class with Ms. Cook, so please bring/wear comfortable dress out clothes that day. Following the days you are provided this week for working on your video projects, we will shift our focus back to shooting our in-class film and TV scenes, so it might be a good idea to go ahead and start refreshing your line memorization for those scenes.
DRAMA 4 (Wednesday Only)
While Drama 3 has voice class with Ms. Cook this Wednesday, you will continue your film/TV work with me in the white box. This week we will be starting a new scene right at the top of class, so we should have time to shoot the entire scene and begin reviewing the footage and providing feedback.
On a side note, I would like to say how impressed I was by the students auditioning for Julius Caesar. I think Mr. Adams has assembled an excellent cast and that the show will be fantastic but as always, many deserving people didn't make the show because of the wealth of talent at PHS. Please know that many, many of you made great impressions and should be proud of your work, whether you were cast in the show or not.
