Happy New Year and welcome back!
I hope you've all had a restful break and happy holidays. I've been looking forward to working with these classes. For this section of Drama 3, I haven't had you in class since last school year (or longer) and I'll be happy to see you back in the white box. For Intro, this will be my first time having you in class and I'm excited for the opportunity.
I update this blog at least once a week, so I encourage students and parents to check back frequently for important updates. I also post a weekly outline of what to expect in class, the first of which is below:
INTRO
We're going to start this semester by focusing on the importance of understanding a character's given circumstances. I have some exercises for you to complete on Monday and Tuesday that will emphasize the key points, and then we'll start looking for scenes from plays for you to begin learning. You may utilize the play books in my classroom, or feel free to bring your own. Once you have chosen your scene, you'll have the remainder of the week to rehearse. You will also receive details late in the week regarding a written script analysis assignment you will complete as part of your scene work.
DRAMA 3
This semester will be largely focused on film/TV work. We'll start the week with an introduction to on-set key terms and personnel in order to lay the foundation for our work. By mid-week, we'll start searching for scenes (you will each be acting in a scene from an existing film or television show. You'll be allowed to use mobile devices to search for scenes). You will also complete a written script analysis assignment as part of your scene work. Once you have chosen a scene, you'll have the remainder of the week to rehearse. My hope is to begin taping scenes in class during the week of 1/14!
Have a great week, everybody!
