For students and parents who are new to my classes, I will typically update this blog no later than the first morning of a new week of school, and will provide a general outline of what we'll be doing in class each day. Should you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].
Here's your first weekly glance at the planned activities for classes in the coming week:
INTRO
We'll start Tuesday with some introductions, as many of you are changing class periods and will have new classmates. We will then begin some simple exercises having to do with exploring a character's given circumstances. That will lead us perfectly into a discussion of script analysis on Wednesday, in preparation for scenes you will begin working on soon. Each of you will have a partner and will be able to select your own scene to rehearse and perform in class. We'll begin the process of selecting those scenes on Thursday and will continue that process on Friday, however if you and your partner find a scene quickly, you will be allowed class time to begin rehearsing.
DRAMA 3
The first two units of this class will be devoted to film and television acting. We'll start on Tuesday with some simple practice on-camera exercises, and we'll have a discussion about the scene selection process (you'll be choosing scenes from established film/TV scripts). On Wednesday you'll continue having your weekly voice class with Ms. Cook, so please bring/wear comfortable dress out clothes that day. On Thursday we'll examine some of the countless jobs found on professional sound stages, as well as other relevant camera terminology and on Friday you'll start the process of selecting scenes. You'll be allowed to use your own mobile devices that day to look at scripts online.
Have a great first week, everyone! I'm excited to be working with you all!
