As of the writing of this blog post on Sunday evening, I am suffering from a chest cold that also features a fever. In the interest of not getting you all sick, I have made the executive decision that it is in everyone's best interest if I stay home tomorrow. For Drama 2 and Drama 4 - where both classes are gearing up for final performances - this means that the rehearsal time you would have received later in the week will instead occur on Monday. Also, as we discussed in class, I will be spending the bulk of the day on Tuesday taping and editing pre-screen videos for our GHP finalists, but the rehearsal time scheduled for those days will still stand. Here's an outline of how the week will look:
DRAMA 1:
On Monday (instead of Tuesday as originally planned) you will watch the video "Michael Caine: Acting in Film" as a review for your written final exam. The good news regarding this schedule change is that it doesn't appear there will be many GHP videos to tape this period, so we should be able to see our one remaining movement piece performance on Tuesday. We will then spend the remainder of the week doing voice and movement work, and you will need to bring/wear comfortable dress out clothes every day Wednesday-Friday.
DRAMA 2:
As noted above, you will spend Monday and Tuesday rehearsing your classical texts in preparation for your final performances. Please note, however, that the rehearsal day on Monday was originally schedule for later in the week, meaning that we will be transitioning directly from first performances to final performances. We will continue seeing first performances on Wednesday and Thursday, and then final performances of your classical texts will occur on Friday of this week and Monday of next week. 4th period Drama 2 will have your master class with Ms. Fischer - featuring the final performances of your combat scenes - on Wednesday of this week (please dress appropriately), but I will likely be pulling some of you out of class individually to view first performances of your classical texts while the master class is in progress.
DRAMA 4:
On Monday and Tuesday you will be rehearsing your scenes in preparation for final performances. Please note that due to my illness and the subsequent schedule change, the rehearsal day originally scheduled for Wednesday is being moved to Monday. This means that we will conclude coaching sessions on Wednesday and see final performances of your scenes on Thursday and Friday of this week.
I want to remind you all that - due to EOC testing - school will be operating with a flipped schedule on Monday and Tuesday. 2nd and 4th blocks will be reversed on these days.
Also, the orchestra concert is Monday night at 7:00 in the Reece Theater and it is FREE! I strongly encourage you to attend. They always put on a wonderful performance!
Have a great week, everybody!
