I hope you all had a very happy Thanksgiving and a restful break! We're nearing the end of the semester but we still have a lot left to accomplish, so let's finish 2016 strong!
Here's your weekly outline of what to expect in class:
DRAMA 1
We will continue movement exercises on Monday, but then I'd like to shift gears into voice work on Tuesday and continue that work for the remainder of the week. With all of these exercises we will be incorporating the text from your theater scenes, and even if you already performed your scene using contact improvisation, please be sure that you have brushed up on your lines. Also, you will need to bring/wear comfortable dress out clothes every day this week.
DRAMA 2
On Monday we will continue seeing first performances of your student-written monologues, and those performances will likely carry over into Tuesday. You will then have time to rehearse in class - incorporating notes from your first performance - in preparation for final performances on Thursday and Friday. Also, I'd like to use this week in 5th period drama to showcase your work for all drama majors! The only exception to this schedule will be Wednesday in 4th block, when you will have a master class with Ms. Fischer (4th block students: please be sure to take a look at your combat scenes in advance of this class).
DRAMA 4
You will be allowed time in class on Monday and Tuesday to rehearse your scenes. We will then see first performances on Wednesday and Thursday, and then we will start coaching scenes individually in class on Friday. Even with the rehearsal time available to you in class early in the week - since some of these scenes are quite lengthy - I hope you are already studying your lines as we discussed in class, as your first performances will need to be off-book!
Good luck to all of our dance students in the dance concert this weekend! Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 in the Reece Theater!
Welcome back and have a great week, everybody!
