This week is a little difficult to schedule in advance because callbacks for the Spring drama department production of You Can't Take It With You will be held in all periods at the start of the week, and callback processes tend to vary in length. I suspect that the auditions will last for two days in 1st, 2nd and 4th blocks, while 3rd block will likely require an extra day due to a higher concentration of students called back during that period. We're excited to see your work, and believe that everyone will benefit from being involved in the process. Here's a look at the plan for the remainder of the week once auditions have concluded:
INTRO
Once callbacks are completed, we will resume work on scenes (likely Wednesday). You will be allowed rehearsal time with your partner(s) every day for the remainder of the week, though we will also be doing some exercises in class. You should be using your rehearsal time this week to block your scenes and memorize your lines, and you should also be studying your lines at home. Don't forget that your written script analysis assignment is due on Friday! If everything goes according to plan, we'll start looking at first performances of scenes at the beginning of the following week.
DRAMA 3
In all likelihood, callbacks will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. The break on Wednesday will be because you will have your weekly voice class with Ms. Cook, so please bring/wear comfortable dress out clothes that day. Once the callback process is complete, we will (hopefully) conclude the scene selection process for your film/TV scenes and start rehearsing once you have an approved scene. If you were struggling with the scene selection process on Friday, I strongly encourage you to spend some time in advance of this Friday searching on your own. Once everyone has a scene you will be given a corresponding written script analysis assignment, but that will likely have to wait until the beginning of the following week.
Have a great week, everyone! Good luck to students auditioning for the show!
