Coming off a busy week of callbacks for Much Ado About Nothing, Damn Yankees and Showcase, I am reminded of how fortunate we all are to be part of a program where there is such a wealth of talent. Casting Much Ado proved to be the most difficult task I've experienced in my four years at PHS, as there were simply far too many deserving people to cast. Whether or not you were cast in any of these upcoming performances, please know that your talent and hard work are not going unnoticed.
Here's your weekly outline of what to expect in class in the coming week:
DRAMA 1:
We have a few scenes left to coach in class, and we still have a scene we haven't been able to see performed at all. We should be able to complete both tasks by the end of class on Tuesday, and then you will spend the remainder of the week rehearsing with your partner and incorporating the notes from your coaching session in preparation for final performances the following week.
DRAMA 2:
The schedules for 2nd and 4th blocks will be very different from one another this week as 4th block will be participating in a PBL with Ms. Litowich's orchestra class. In 2nd block we will be transitioning away from clowning and back to your children's theater scripts. Throughout the week we will be rehearsing pieces individually in class, and you will also have rehearsal time with your groups. In 4th block we will rehearse our PBL piece - The Frog Prince - as a class on Monday. On Tuesday we will meet in the orchestra room with Ms. Litowich's class to rehearse with the orchestra, and then we will perform the piece on the Reece Theater stage with the orchestra on Thursday. On Wednesday you'll have a master class with our guest instructor, Ms. Fischer (please bring/wear comfortable dress out clothes that day) and on Friday we will resume rehearsing your children's theater pieces.
DRAMA 4:
As we discussed in class, this week is a little difficult to project because we will be periodically rehearsing pieces for Showcase. During the early part of the week we will complete round 4 of college research presentations (please have your latest research document posted to our class blog no later than Wednesday) and on Friday you will perform your next round of monologues. If time permits, you will be allowed rehearsal time for all four of your audition pieces (likely on Thursday) in preparation for our upcoming performances of ALL for your pieces (I suspect those performances will begin the following week).
Have a great week, everyone!
