This week will mark the end of the 2nd six weeks of the semester. I encourage you all to review your grades and let me know if you have any questions. Also, if you would like to turn in make-up work to be applied toward your grade in advance of progress reports, please submit those assignments ASAP (preferably early in the week).
Here's your weekly outline of what to expect in class:
DRAMA 1
On Monday we'll complete first performances of your theater scenes, and then the remainder of the week will be devoted to individual coaching sessions. We'll be working through scenes at a rate of two or three scenes per day, but please come to class prepared to work every day. You've all been through this process before and know how tedious it can be, but please remember that your participation in the process as we analyze and critique other students' scenes is crucial. You've been providing fantastic and helpful commentary on the first performances of these scenes, so please keep it up!
DRAMA 2
Monday and Tuesday of this week will be devoted to rehearsing your children's theater pieces in class. Your final performances in 5th period have been set: 2nd block will perform in 5th period on Tuesday, and 4th block will perform on Wednesday. For drama minors, I have made arrangements with your major area teachers to allow you to attend. For the remainder of the week we will turn our attention back to clowning exercises (please make sure you bring your noses!). The one exception to this schedule will be Wednesday in 4th block, when those students will have a master class with a guest instructor (you may wish to bring/wear comfortable dress out clothes that day).
DRAMA 4
On Monday (and likely the beginning of class on Tuesday) we will conclude final performances of all four of your audition pieces. Once those performances are complete, we will move on to "stretch material." We'll start by identifying the type of material each student will be assigned, and then you'll be given time in class to search for scenes (please feel free to bring in play books from home starting on Tuesday). Once you have selected your material, you'll have the remainder of the week to rehearse in advance of first performances, which will start on Monday, 10/30.
Have a great week, everybody!
