First, I'd like to congratulate everyone involved in ComPAny! I saw the show Friday night and it was terrific!
This promises to be another very busy week for us (what else is new?). On Tuesday we will hold pre-screen auditions for Showcase in all drama classes, and then we will conduct open call auditions for Much Ado About Nothing and Damn Yankees after school that same day. Break a leg to everyone auditioning for any and all of these productions! REMINDER: all of the pertinent audition info for Much Ado, including the audition material, is located in previous posts below.
Here's your weekly outline of everything to expect in class this week:
DRAMA 1:
On Monday we will finish seeing first performances of your theater scenes. On Tuesday - if there is any time remaining after Showcase pre-screens - I will allow time for those of you who are auditioning for next semester's shows to rehearse. Wednesday-Friday we will get down to business on coaching your scenes at a rate of 2-3 scenes per day. Remember: if you have not yet turned in your written script analysis assignment - which was due on Thursday - please make sure you turn it in no later than Monday!
DRAMA 2:
On Monday we will finish seeing your performances of your clowning "impossible tasks." On Tuesday - if there is any time remaining after Showcase pre-screens - I will allow time for those of you who are auditioning for next semester's shows to rehearse. Wednesday-Friday you will begin working on your next clowning assignment (details to follow in class). You will have some rehearsal time in class and we'll start performances late in the week. The exception will be Wednesday in 4th block, when you will be joined by our guest instructor - Ms. Fischer - for an introductory stage combat class (please bring/wear comfortable dress out clothes that day).
DRAMA 4:
On Monday we will be joined by a guest from Boston Conservatory. Assuming that session does not last for the entire period, we will then begin round three of monologue/song performances. I suspect that due to the volume of people auditioning in this period, Showcase pre-screens will take up the entire period on Tuesday but if I'm mistaken, we will continue with monologue/song performances for the rest of the period that day and will conclude those performances on Wednesday. On Thursday - since we are STILL not done with the monologue selection process - we will continue reviewing monologue selections, and once we have completed that process (which may take until Friday) we will resume college research presentations. There are only a few presentations remaining from our previous round of schools, so everyone should be prepared to present their 4th school by Friday.
Have a great week, everyone!
