Here are the details for 3rd and 4th Blocks today:
DRAMA 3
Based on the record low turnout on Tuesday, I'm guessing that many of the juniors in the class are struggling to find monologues. Rather than meet on Zoom today, I'm going to ask that you spend this class period searching for monologues (remember that Shakespeare's plays can all be accessed for free online) and we'll reconvene on Tuesday of next week for our final class meeting of the school year!
4th BLOCK INTRO:
As we discussed on Tuesday, 4th Block Intro will not meet on Zoom today. Instead, I'd like you to put into practice some of the gesture/movement exercises I mentioned. You do not need to submit a video of your performances, but this is what I'd like you to try, utilizing the text from either your jury or class monologue:
1. Perform the monologue in super slow motion. All of your gestures should be slow, specific and deliberate.
2. Much like the exercise Mr. Adams showcased in 5th Period earlier this semester with students from Drama 2, select three bold gestures and incorporate them into a performance of your monologue. Make sure the gestures are justified.
3. If you're feeling ambitious, try writing out a "physical score" for your monologue - marking each move and gesture in advance, and then perform it. To be clear: I DO NOT encourage you to make a habit of preplanning your gestures, but as an exercise I believe it can be useful.
OPTIONAL: if you'd like the opportunity to increase your grade in the class, please write a brief analysis (one or two paragraphs) of the observations you make while completing the exercises above and email it to me by the end of the school day.
I will be available during 5th Period today (3:00-4:00) for my virtual office hour (login info shared via Remind).
Have a great day!
