First, let me tell you all how impressed I was by the work I saw this week in the callbacks for our fall drama department production of Twelve Angry Jurors. I do not envy Mr. Adams for having to make the final casting decisions amidst this very deep talent pool. Regardless of the names that ultimately end up on the cast list, you should all feel great about your work. I'm extremely proud of you all, including students who didn't audition for the show but were supportive throughout the process.
With callbacks very nearly complete, we'll be back to our normal operations in class this week. Here's a brief outline of what to expect:
DRAMA 1:
On Monday we'll shoot our first film/TV scene! Those of you not performing in the scene will serve in the various camera crew positions we discussed at the beginning of class. We'll finish shooting that scene on Tuesday and will review the footage in class, providing feedback as we go. We will continue this pattern of shooting scenes and reviewing footage in the coming weeks and certainly for this entire week, with intermittent breaks for mock auditions. As we discussed in class - as of this coming Monday - all students should arrive to class every day with their lines memorized and scenes blocked, and also with two hard copies of your script.
DRAMA 2:
On Monday we'll complete any remaining performances of the first half of the True West scene, and then you'll start working with your rehearsal partner again on the full scene. You'll have rehearsal time on Tuesday and Wednesday and then we'll start final performances of the full scene Thursday and Friday. Though you will have the in-class rehearsal time, I encourage you to get a jump on line memorization so you're not cramming at the end of the week.
DRAMA 4:
There are still a few remaining callbacks to be held this period but those should be completed before the end of class on Monday, and then we'll start our first round of college research presentations. Each student will present one of the schools from his or her list, utilizing the research document provided in a previous blog post. Once you have presented your completed document in class, you will receive instructions on how to post your results to our class college research blog. The first round of presentations will continue on Tuesday, Wednesday and perhaps the beginning of class on Thursday, and then we'll resume reviewing monologue selections through Friday.
Have a great week, everyone!
