Everyone did a terrific job during the callbacks for You Can't Take It With You. Mr. Adams and I were both very impressed by the work we saw, and I know he is facing some very difficult casting decisions as a result of the wealth of talent that was on display. You should all be feeling very good about your work. I also hope that those of you who didn't audition or weren't called back were able to gain something from the experience. Remember: many of the upperclassmen who are now regularly vying for major roles were at one time only observers of the callback process, too.
Now that callbacks are completed, we'll get back to our regularly scheduled programming in classes this week. Here's a look at what we'll be doing:
INTRO:
On Tuesday you'll be able to spend most of the period rehearsing your scenes with your partner(s). You'll have a little more time to rehearse during the first half of class on Wednesday, but then I'd like to start seeing first performances. Please try to be as close to off-book as possible for these performances, but remember that this is only the beginning and you will have more opportunities to perform these scenes in class. I suspect first performances will continue not only on Thursday but also into Friday and once we've seen all of the scenes and provided notes, you'll be allowed some additional rehearsal time in preparation for the next phase of the process. Also, if you have not yet turned in your written script analysis assignment, please make sure you turn it in on Tuesday!
DRAMA 3
On Tuesday we will wrap up the selection process for your film/TV scenes. If you do not yet have an approved scene, please try to arrive to class with some options. My hope is that by the end of class on Tuesday, everyone will have a scene selected. As usual you will have voice class with Ms. Cook on Wednesday, so please bring/wear comfortable dress out clothes that day. On Thursday and Friday you will be allowed rehearsal time in class to work on your scenes. You will also be given a written script analysis assignment on Thursday to accompany your scenes which will be due on Tuesday of next week. If everything goes according to plan we'll start shooting our first scene next Monday!
Have a great week, everyone!
