Here's a look at what we'll be doing in class this week:
DRAMA 1
Now that all coaching sessions are complete for your theater scenes, this week will be fully devoted to rehearsing your scenes in class. We'll start on Monday and Tuesday by running all of the scenes in class, providing teacher and student feedback after we've seen all of the scenes. You will then have some rehearsal time on your own on Wednesday and Thursday, and then we'll check out your progress by seeing all of the scenes in class again on Friday.
DRAMA 2
On Monday we should be able to complete the remaining performances of your student-written monologues, with a couple of performances possibly spilling over into the beginning of class on Tuesday. We will then shift gears to begin working on theater scenes. You'll be allowed time on Tuesday to start selecting scenes from the plays provided in my classroom. Please also feel free to bring in your own texts. On Wednesday we will review your scene selections in class, and you'll spend the remainder of the week rehearsing your scenes. You will also be assigned a written script analysis assignment to correspond with your scenes.
DRAMA 3
Now that the filmmaking PBL is complete (great job, everyone!) we'll be entirely focused on our typical curriculum. We have only two film/TV scenes left to shoot, so we'll shoot one on Monday and the other on Tuesday, reviewing and critiquing the footage after each scene is completed. On Wednesday you'll have voice class with Ms. Cook, so please bring/wear comfortable dress out clothes that day. For that matter, we'll be beginning our unit of movement work on Thursday and Friday, so you'll need comfortable dress out clothes virtually every day until the end of the semester! We'll start with some basic movement exercises which will lead us into exploration of contact improvisation.
DRAMA 4
We have just a couple of monologue performances remaining, as well as a couple of scene selections still to review, so we'll take a look at those at the beginning of class on Monday. You will then have the remainder of class on Monday and all of class on Tuesday to rehearse your scenes with your partner(s). First performances will be presented on Wednesday and Thursday (off book!) and then on Friday we'll begin individual in-class coaching sessions of your scenes.
Have a very happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I am thankful to be working with you and for all of your hard work in class!
