Here's a quick look at what we'll be doing in class this week:
DRAMA 1
We'll review the footage and provide feedback on our last two scenes on Monday, and then we'll continue shooting scenes through the end of the week. We only have a few remaining, so if you have not yet taped your film/TV scene you should ABSOLUTELY have your lines memorized by now, and arrive to class with two hard copies of your script. It might also be a good idea to review your script analysis assignments. Remember, we're aiming for commitment to the character's circumstances in these scenes. We are nearing the end of our film/TV work and will soon be moving on to our theater scenes. You'll be allowed time early in the week of 10/12 to start selecting those scenes.
DRAMA 2
The coming week will be entirely devoted to rehearsing your children's theater scenes. We have three weeks of class before your performance on 10/24, so it's extremely important that we use our rehearsal time wisely. On Monday we'll take a look at the script revisions you made on Friday, and then we'll move on to in-class rehearsals where we'll work on each piece one-by-one, providing feedback as we go. Once we've taken a look at each scene in class individually, you'll be allowed rehearsal time on your own in your groups.
DRAMA 3
On Monday and Tuesday we'll return to our film/TV scenes, taping a scene and then reviewing the footage and providing feedback. If you have not yet taped your scene, please review your lines and make sure you arrive to class with two hard copies of your script. On Wednesday, as usual, you'll have voice class with Ms. Cook, so please bring/wear comfortable dress out clothes that day. On Thursday and Friday we'll rejoin Mr. Sager's class to continue work on our filmmaking PBL. We'll cast the films and get to work on shooting them!
DRAMA 4
On Monday we'll be joined by a guest from Boston Conservatory, so we'll be meeting in the black box. Please come prepared with any questions you may have about their program, with particular focus on how this experience can enhance the research we've been conducting in class. You'll be allowed rehearsal time on Tuesday to prepare for your third round of monologue performances, and you'll present those performances on Wednesday. We'll spend time at the beginning of class on Thursday providing feedback on your monologues, and then we'll move on to round five (our last full round) of college research presentations. We'll continue that work on Friday and Monday of the following week. Your fourth monologue performances will be the following week as well, so you may want to get a head start on memorizing those lines if you haven't already started. Please also remember that at this point, all of the research documents you've presented in class should be posted to our research blog.
SENIORS AUDITIONING FOR BFA PROGRAMS: don't forget to sign up for a pre-screen taping session if any of your schools require pre-screen videos, and also don't forget to schedule monologue coaching sessions with me. As of the posting of this message, I am booked in the mornings this week Monday-Thursday but am open on Friday morning and after school every day.
ALL STUDENTS: I strongly encourage you to attend the performing arts college fair on Monday night. Regardless of your year in school, this is an outstanding opportunity to meet college representatives and learn about a wide range of collegiate programs. Please make sure you register in advance using the link that Mr. Timmerman sent out.
