I hope you've all had a terrific fall break!
Congratulations to the cast and crew of Twelve Angry Jurors! I was able to see both casts in dress rehearsals and I thought the work was strong across the board!
With one drama department production in the books, it is now time to start getting ready for Much Ado About Nothing! The audition monologues are available on this blog in my previous post. As I mentioned in that post, auditions will be next Tuesday (10/11) with callbacks to follow in class (audition applications will be available this week). At some point this week, my classes will join with Mr. Adams' classes to discuss the play and review the audition material.
Here's a brief outline of everything else we'll be doing in class this week:
DRAMA 1:
On Monday and Tuesday you'll have rehearsal time for your theater scenes, and then I'd like to start looking at first performances (off book) by Wednesday (though depending on everyone's progress we may split that day - half rehearsal and half performances for those who are anxious to get started). Also, your written script analysis assignment will be due on Thursday of this week.
DRAMA 2:
As promised, we will now take a short break from our children's theater work to start clowning! We'll go through some introductory exercises in class to start (you'll even be provided with your own red nose, to keep!) Monday-Wednesday, and then you'll receive your "impossible task" assignment (details to follow in class) which you will present in class on Thursday and Friday. It should be a lot of fun!
DRAMA 4:
We'll get right back down to business on Monday with our current round of college research presentations, which I suspect will take us through Wednesday. Then on Thursday we will review monologue selections...if you still do not have all four of your approved pieces, PLEASE have material to read in class no later than Thursday. Then on Friday we'll hold our next round of monologue performances (for some of you that will mean your first song, so your performances are TBA pending the availability of an accompanist).
Hope you all have a great week!
