I hope you've all had a fantastic summer! I'm excited to get back down to business and hope you are, too.
We will begin week one in all classes by reviewing the course syllabus and discussing this semester's curriculum. Also, in keeping with tradition, ALL drama students will perform a monologue during the first week of class. Drama 1, 2 and 4 will perform this Thursday, 8/7, and then Drama 3 and Intro will perform on Friday, 8/8. Here's a little summary of what we'll be doing in each class during week 1: Drama 1 AND Drama 2 After reviewing the syllabus and course outline on Monday, we will begin theater scene units. You will be assigned a scene partner, and Tuesday and Wednesday of this week will be devoted to choosing and rehearsing your scene. We will then spend Thursday and Friday performing/watching beginning-of-the-year monologues. Drama 4 After reviewing the syllabus and course outline on Monday, we will start looking at the monologues you were asked to select this summer (hope none of you forgot!). As a reminder, the goal is for each student to ultimately have four, high-quality monologues - two contemporary and two Shakespearean, with one comedic and one dramatic choice in each category. We will spend Tuesday and Wednesday listening to readings of potential monologue choices, and then Thursday and Friday performing/watching beginning-of-the-year monologues (for which you MAY use one of your monologue choices for this class). Have a great first week! |
